Source policy

CancelWise is built around official sources first. When a company policy can change, the guide should point readers back to the official company, billing provider, bank, carrier, or government source before they act.

What counts as an official source

  • Company support, help, account, billing, refund, return, privacy, or legal pages.
  • Payment-provider support pages such as Apple, Google Play, PayPal, Amazon, Microsoft, Roku, Stripe, or Paddle when they control the billing route.
  • Government or regulator pages for general consumer-payment information.

Specificity standard

An official domain alone is not enough. An indexable guide should link to a page that addresses the relevant cancellation, refund, return, deletion, charge, trial, or booking action. A generic support homepage may help a reader find support, but it does not justify a “policy checked” label.

What CancelWise avoids

  • Unofficial blogs, copied guides, forums, Reddit threads, scraped phone numbers, and user comments as source material.
  • Claims that a refund is guaranteed when the official policy depends on timing, country, account type, product type, or payment method.
  • Requests for passwords, full card numbers, or sensitive account data.

When policy is unclear

CancelWise uses cautious language, marks the guide as needing verification, and excludes it from search indexing until a sufficiently specific official source is saved. Uncertainty language cannot substitute for evidence.

Source review dates

The displayed source-check date changes only after the official source is reviewed. Editing grammar, layout, metadata, or general preparation advice does not count as a new policy verification.
